WTS Green Valley Gallery and Update

Just wanted to give a brief weekend race report. Samantha, Uncle Bill ( Thats Me ), the Wetherington Tractor Service WTS Team and I have made it safely back to Plant City, Florida Sunday about 11AM. We left Friday a little after noon, drove about 7 hours and found a hotel for the night, making sure they had Speed Channel so that we could catch the WOO race at Lowes.

Left Saturday morning and had a 2 hr. drive to the track. We ate lunch, stopped at Wal-Mart and still at the track about noon. Uncle Bill and Samantha immediatly went to tinkering and working on the car. I went to overseeing the work and staying out of the way. Tyler Godwin and his Grandfather, from here at Eastbay Raceway, were parked next to us and introduced themselves. They offered advice and loaned us a few small tools we didn't have thru the day.

12 noon until racetime makes for a long day at the track. Drivers meeting finally came, Sam drew a 16, after all the drivers drew Sam would start 5th in the first heat. Tyler will start back row of the 2nd. heat. Sam starts the heat and has to check up because the car in front of her was slow in starting, Disaster averted! Ran a hard race and finished the heat 4th.

Top 8 draw pills for their starting position of the feature. Samantha drew a 6 so we start 3rd. row outside. We start behind Tyler who was starting in the 4th position. Green flag drops and we seem to lag on the start, I think we dropped 3 positions and then within a lap or a lap and a half The left front wing post breaks and the front wing twists and lays down on the hood.

I settle in, planning for a long and painful race of Sam just holding on. Thank goodness Sam drives hard and deals with things as she has to. 2 laps later Sam passes 2 cars in turns 3/4, She is fighting the car but continually goes forward running 5th when the first red comes out. Uncle Bill takes to the Quad and heads out to the car on the track, with strict instructions " DO NOT TOUCH THE WING" that would have mean't immediate DQ.

Once Uncle Bill got there Sam was more concerned that she hadn't had any brakes on the car since lap 6, she wasn't worried about the wing. The race was finally restarted and Sam continued to fight her way forward while aggressivly defending her line from attempts to pass her. 2 more red flag stops and 2 attemted green, white, checkered finishs and she brought home the Rick Chancey Farms/ WTS MAXIM in the 4th position in a 15 car field.

This is the hardest race I have seen her run, obstacles came up and she just continued to overcome them. I have no finger nails left and that was by far the most nervous I have been watching her race. It has taken a lot of money, time, effort and dedication of all involved to make this team and group what it is and I want all to know it is appreciated.ASCS official came to me this weekend and ask if we would consider having Samantha be one of the drivers to run The BRODIX RACE OF CHAMPIONS in Knoxville Iowa.

It is an invitation only race and ASCS would like extend the invitation to Sam as long as she remains in the top 10 in points of the REBEL REGIONAL. The race is at the first part of August right after 3 nights of the 360 Nationals and is the day before the 410 Nationals start.Let me know your thoughts.
